Cardiology

Cardiology is the study and treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. A cardiologist is a specialist who works closely with their patients to help prevent, detect, and manage heart diseases and disorders. Cardiologists will recommend testing, procedures, and lifestyle changes to improve your heart health. They will also assess and identify possible risk factors such as high blood pressure, high low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, diabetes, smoking (including secondhand smoke exposure), obesity, diet, and physical inactivity.

When to see a Cardiologist

Early detection is crucial for optimal outcomes in most diseases, including heart conditions. It is recommended to schedule an annual visit with a cardiologist, even if you haven't been diagnosed with a heart condition. If you have a known heart condition, it is advisable to see your cardiologist every three months for regular check-ups and monitoring.
